Callum (little Cal) joined us as our KP two weeks before his 19th birthday. After 18 months Callum moved to the Larder section where he found his real passion – cooking. He left The Punch Bowl for a short time, but missed us so much he re-joined us again in the summer. He missed the ‘team’ and the food.
When he was younger Callum wanted to be a Gamekeeper.
Callum’s favourite walk is to pop to Bowness and walk by the Lake. It also gives him the excuse to have an ice cream. His favourite walk is Gummers Howe – the views of the Lake are absolutely fabulous, no matter what time of the year you visit.
Callum’s favourite food is Cottage Pie. His favourite holiday destination is Florida, he loves all the theme parks.
Callum’s way to relax is to go to the gym, or mountain biking or walking the dog. “I love being out-doors” and will always find time to get out cycling or walking.
Seb joined us from Kendal College. He became part of the team in October 2016 and works as a Commis Chef. Seb chose to work at The Punch Bowl because a friend had told him it was a good place to work.
Seb said the best thing about working at The Punch Bowl is the atmosphere, the staff and the staff food! His favourite food is Duck L'Orange (we dont often get that for staff tea!).
Time spent away from work sees Seb walking on Scout Scar as the views are really lovely.
Seb lived in France for 10 years and still takes his holidays back 'home'. When he was younger (he is only 19 now), he secretly wanted to be a footballer. The only football Seb sees now, is when he watches his favourite team (Manchester United) play. Although not able to go to Old Trafford, he does manage to catch up with all the games on the TV.
Nick joined the kitchen team in August 2017. He carries out various kitchen duties. Nick was very honest when asked why he chose to work at The Punch Bowl, “I wanted a job, any job”. However, he said he did make the right decision to join us at The Punch Bowl as the staff are really friendly and the food is good.
When Nick was younger, he wanted to race dirt bikes, but soon realised he needed to get a proper job! He is studying at Kendal college.
His favourite place to visit in The Lake District is his bedroom, to sleep (he is only 18!). He doesn’t really have any favourite places to walk. His favourite food is steak and chips and his favourite holiday destination is Marbella.
When not working, or studying Nick does spend a lot of time sleeping!
